First inspection by CQC for QEF Patient Transport is rated ‘good

Gateshead based QE Facilities Patient Transport received its first inspection from the Care Quality Commission (CQC) on the 26th of August 2022. They were awarded with a rating of Good overall, signifying that the service is performing well and meeting the expectations of the CQC.

The rating was awarded after an inspection of the premises and the working practices. The review of the service looked at whether the service was safe, effective, caring, responsive and well-led. QEF Patient Transport rated ‘Good’ in all these individual areas for its first inspection since the service began in March 2021 transporting NHS patients across the North East. This rating was decided by speaking to 10 members of staff, four patients and attending a management meeting.

The CQC recognises that the service delivered is safe and high standards of care are given to patients. Staff deliver this service with a focus on compassion, dignity and privacy. Training is recognised to be of a high standard, with staff demonstrating knowledge of safeguarding, infection control and emergency procedures. The Live Vehicle and Sample Tracking system used throughout Patient Transport was noted as outstanding practice. This system allows the Patient Transport service to monitor, track and report incidents more effectively as well as accurately targeting training needs of staff.

The CQC rating is a huge achievement for QE Facilities and a massive vote of confidence in the Patient Transport Service. We are incredibly proud of the team they work tirelessly to maintain the highest of standards in the services they provide and it’s great to see that acknowledged.
